Vehicle Sales

Descriptions & accuracy

  • All vehicles are described to the best of our knowledge. Whilst every effort is made to ensure descriptions, mileages, and specifications are accurate, they should be treated as a guide only and do not constitute a contractual offer.
  • Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person before purchase. Any defects or issues known to us will be disclosed prior to sale.
  • All mileages are believed correct at time of listing but cannot be warranted unless accompanied by a full, verifiable service history.

Pricing & payment

  • All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and are inclusive of VAT where applicable.
  • Prices are subject to change without notice until a reservation or purchase agreement is completed.
  • Payment is accepted by bank transfer or cash. Full payment must be received before the vehicle is released to the buyer.

Your rights

  • All vehicles are sold in accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Under this legislation, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described.
  • If a fault is found within 30 days of purchase that was present at the time of sale, you are entitled to a full refund. Between 30 days and 6 months, we will offer a repair or replacement; if unsuccessful, a refund may be offered.
  • These statutory rights are in addition to any warranty provided.

Warranty

  • All vehicles sold include a 90-day warrantyheld at Bedlington MOT & Service Centre Ltd.
  • Extended warranty beyond 90 days is available through a third-party warranty provider, arranged by WMA. We may receive a commission for arranging extended warranty cover. Details and pricing will be discussed at the point of sale.
  • Warranty does not cover wear-and-tear items including but not limited to: tyres, brake pads and discs, wiper blades, bulbs, and batteries.

Collection & delivery

  • Vehicles are available for collection from our premises at 70 Glebe Road, Bedlington, Northumberland, NE22 6JU.
  • Delivery may be available — please enquire for pricing. Risk and responsibility for the vehicle transfers to the buyer upon collection or delivery.

Vehicle Finance

  • WMA Vehicle Hire and Sales Limited (trading as WMA Motors) acts as a credit broker, not a lender. Finance is provided by a panel of third-party lenders. We may receive a commission or fee for introducing you to a finance provider.
  • All finance applications are subject to status and affordability checks carried out by the lending provider. We cannot guarantee approval.
  • A finance agreement is a regulated credit agreement between you and the lender. You should read the full terms of any finance agreement carefully before signing. You have the right to withdraw from a credit agreement within 14 days of signing.
  • The information you supply will be held by WMA Vehicle Hire and Sales Limited (trading as WMA Motors) in order to review your eligibility for finance and will only be passed on to our finance partners. It will not be passed to any other third-party companies.
  • Finance is only available on vehicles listed for sale. It is not available on rent-to-own or short-term rental agreements, which are structured as unregulated hire agreements at 0% interest.

WMA Vehicle Hire and Sales Limited (trading as WMA Motors) is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Rent-to-Own Agreement Terms

The following terms apply to all Rent-to-Own agreements entered into with WMA Vehicle Hire & Sales Ltd (trading as WMA Motors). A full agreement is signed at vehicle collection.

Term & payments

  • Maximum 12-month term with a maximum of 12 monthly payment instalments.
  • An initial payment (deposit plus first month’s lease) is required via bank transfer prior to vehicle collection. Cash is also accepted.
  • All payments must be made in advance for the month ahead — no arrears are accepted. Standing order is strongly recommended.
  • Balances can be cleared earlier than 12 months with no additional fees.

Deposit

  • Deposits are non-refundable.
  • Failure to meet repayments means the deposit is forfeited along with all other payments made.

Ownership & V5C

  • WMA retains legal ownership of the vehicle and the V5C until the vehicle is paid in full.
  • The V5C transfers to the lessee only upon completion of all payments.
  • The lessee has no entitlement to the vehicle or claims against it until fully paid.

Missed payments

  • There is no flexibility on repayments.
  • A missed payment results in immediate termination of the agreement, recovery of the vehicle, and all monies paid are forfeited.
  • The vehicle is held for one month after non-payment, then listed for re-sale.

Road tax & insurance

  • The lessee is responsible for road tax payments throughout the term. Missed road tax incurs a £80 DVLA penalty plus a £25 WMA admin fee, payable within 24 hours. Failure to pay results in cancellation of the lease, recovery of the vehicle, and forfeiture of all monies.
  • The lessee is responsible for fully comprehensive insurance. If the vehicle is uninsured or improperly insured, the lease is terminated and all monies are forfeited.
  • If damage or theft occurs and the insurer refuses to pay, the lessee is liable for all repair costs plus all remaining payments.

Warranty & maintenance

  • A 3-month warranty is provided, held at Bedlington MOT & Service Centre Ltd.
  • No third-party repair bills are accepted without WMA’s prior written agreement.
  • WMA is not liable for any repair costs within the lease term outside of the warranty period.

MOT

The lessee is responsible for the next due MOT.

Short-Term Rental Agreement Terms

The following terms apply to all short-term vehicle rental agreements entered into with WMA Vehicle Hire & Sales Ltd (trading as WMA Motors). A full agreement is signed at vehicle collection.

Term & payments

  • Strictly no taxi hire.
  • Minimum hire term is 4 weeks. Early return is still charged the minimum.
  • Maximum 6-month term per agreement. The contract must be renewed every 6 months if the vehicle is being kept. There is no limit to the total length of hire — quarterly reviews of the vehicle are required.
  • Vehicles can be swapped after 6 months on long-term hire.
  • Payment is weekly. All payments must be made in advance for the week ahead — no arrears accepted. Standing order is strongly recommended.
  • An initial payment (deposit plus first week) is required via bank transfer prior to vehicle collection. Cash is also accepted.

Deposit

  • Deposits are refundable, returned within 10 working days of the vehicle being returned and an End of Lease Agreement being completed.
  • Deductions may be made for: outstanding lease payments, late payment fees, failed payment fees, minimum hire term charges, PCNs, excess mileage, and damage.
  • If deductions exceed the deposit, the outstanding amount is invoiced and payable within 14 days. Failure to pay is referred to a third-party collection company.
  • Deposit amounts are determined by the vehicle’s weekly rental value and the distance of the lessee’s residence from our premises. Short-term rental is only available to customers within 100 miles of our premises.

  • Distance is measured from our premises (70 Glebe Road, NE22 6JU) to the lessee’s permanent residential address.

Late & missed payments

  • A late fee of £5 per day applies for each day a payment is overdue.
  • Payments in arrears for more than 48 hours without prior agreement result in immediate termination — the vehicle must be returned.

Insurance & documentation

  • Fully comprehensive motor insurance must be arranged by the renter. The vehicle must be insured as a private lease vehicle— standard social/domestic/commuting cover is not sufficient. Proof of cover is required before vehicle collection.
  • A full, valid UK driving licence is required. Provisional licences and international licences are not accepted. A copy will be taken at handover.
  • Proof of current address is required.
  • Only the named renter on the agreement may drive the vehicle. Additional drivers may be added only if: their full driving licence details are captured on the agreement, they are named on the same fully comprehensive insurance policy, and WMA has agreed in writing.
  • The renter must be at least 18 years of age.

Cooling-off & cancellation

  • This agreement takes effect immediately upon signature and vehicle collection. There is no cooling-off period. Short-term rental agreements are not distance contracts and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 do not apply.
  • Early return of the vehicle does not reduce the minimum hire charge (4 weeks).

Warranty & maintenance

  • WMA covers all aspects of repairs during the rental term, with the exception of costs arising from neglect.
  • Any vehicle concerns must be reported immediately and the vehicle returned to WMA when requested.
  • If the rental vehicle requires repairs, a replacement vehicle will be made available.

Tyres, windscreens & return condition

  • Tyres and windscreens/glass are the renter’s responsibility throughout the hire and must be returned in the same standard as handover, or the renter will be invoiced.
  • A valet charge of minimum £25(maximum £100) applies on return. Higher charges within this range apply if the vehicle is heavily soiled.
  • The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as taken. Damage inspections are carried out at handover and return, with photographic records.
  • Vehicle returns are by appointment only. Please contact us to book a return slot so we can allocate time for the end-of-hire inspection.

MOT

  • The renter must book the MOT 2 weeks prior to the due date.
  • The vehicle must be returned to WMA when requested for MOT.

Ownership

No ownership transfers under a short-term rental agreement. The vehicle remains the property of WMA Vehicle Hire & Sales Ltd at all times.

Terms Applying to All Lease & Rental Agreements

Mileage

  • Standard allowance is 1,250 miles per month, pro-rated daily for the period the vehicle is in the lessee’s possession (approximately 41.67 miles per day).
  • Excess mileage is charged at £0.20 per mile for hires of 7 days or more.
  • For vehicles returned within the first 7 days (regardless of the reason for return, including vehicle fault), excess mileage is charged at £0.30 per mile.
  • Excess mileage charges are a usage-based charge and are always deductible from the deposit, including where the vehicle is returned due to a fault. The wear and mileage placed on the vehicle occurred regardless of the reason for return.
  • Short-term rental customers may request a higher mileage allowance — the weekly hire rate increases accordingly.

Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) & Clean Air Zones

  • All vehicles are fleet-registered; PCNs are received by WMA. A £25 administration fee applies per PCN, payable within 24 hours. The PCN is then re-issued to the lessee.
  • The lessee is responsible for all driving contraventions, parking fines, Toll Road charges, and Clean Air Zone (CAZ) charges or penalties incurred during the hire period.

Tyne Tunnel (TT2)

  • All vehicles are on WMA’s fleet TT2 account. The lessee must not move the vehicle to a personal TT2 account.
  • The lessee must pay the prevailing TT2 toll rate per journey to WMA within 24 hours of using the tunnel. Each unpaid toll incurs a £25 penalty.

Breakdown recovery

  • The lessee must arrange breakdown cover before leaving the site. Proof of cover is required and the provider details are recorded on the agreement.
  • If WMA has to recover the vehicle due to inadequate or absent breakdown cover, a recovery charge of £90 + VAT applies within 25 miles of NE22 6JU, plus £1.70 per mile beyond. RAC recovery fees apply for each unsuccessful attempt.
  • If the vehicle breaks down outside opening hours, the lessee must still arrange recovery to WMA’s premises.
  • If the vehicle breaks down or is impounded, the lessee remains liable for all payments until the vehicle is returned to WMA’s possession.

Neglect exclusions

The following are not covered by any warranty or WMA repair obligation and costs will be passed to the lessee:

  • Running with flat tyres or wheel/blow-out damage
  • Running out of fuel or breakdown from fuelling issues
  • Ignoring dashboard warning lights
  • Running low on oil or coolant
  • Flat battery from leaving lights or radio on

Termination & recovery

WMA reserves the right to void any agreement and recover the vehicle at any time for breach of any condition. Outstanding fees may be passed to a third-party recovery agent.

Data protection

  • Personal data collected under a lease or rental agreement (name, address, contact details, driving licence, insurance, employment information) is processed by WMA Vehicle Hire & Sales Ltd for the purpose of administering the agreement, verifying your identity and eligibility, and complying with legal obligations.
  • The lawful basis for processing is the performance of a contract (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)) and compliance with a legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)).
  • Your data will be retained for the duration of the agreement and for 6 months after termination, after which it will be anonymised. Financial records may be retained longer to comply with HMRC requirements.

Reservation Fee

1. Definitions

In these terms, unless the context requires otherwise, the following definitions apply:

  • “Appointment” means the appointment to view the Vehicle in accordance with Clause 7.
  • “WMA”means the motor vehicle dealership WMA Vehicle Hire & Sales Ltd.
  • “Customer” means an individual who wishes to inspect a Vehicle at the WMA dealership or online at wmamotors.co.uk.
  • “Reservation”means the process by which a Vehicle is reserved at a retail Customer’s request in accordance with these terms and conditions.
  • “Order Form” means the standard form/invoice used by the WMA dealership.
  • “Purchase” means the entering into a contract by the completion and signing of an Order Form.
  • “Reservation Fee” means the sum payable by a Customer in respect of a Vehicle.
  • “Vehicle” means the passenger car (being a car intended for the carriage of passengers) and light commercial vehicles (such as small vans and pick-up trucks) that a Customer wishes to reserve.
  • “Working Day” means any day except Saturday, Sunday or any bank or customary public or statutory holiday in England and Wales.
  1. These are the terms and conditions that apply to the exclusion of all others (including any verbal statement or representation) in respect of the Reservation Fee.
  2. Reservation is available to Vehicles advertised on wmamotors.co.uk where the Vehicle is advertised with the Reservation Fee.
  3. A Reservation Fee can only be paid online via bank transfer, or by visiting the WMA dealership.
  4. To secure a Vehicle reservation, the Reservation Fee must be paid in the name of the Customer. The Customer must also provide their:
    • name
    • full postal address
    • telephone number
    • email address
    • chosen method of contact
  5. Once the Reservation Fee is confirmed as paid, WMA will reserve the Vehicle at the WMA dealership for 48 hours, unless extended under Clause 7.
  6. Within 48 hours of the Reservation being confirmed as being paid, the Customer must make an Appointment to view the Vehicle, or arrange delivery/collection (the remaining balance to be paid in full prior to this). An Appointment shall be either by:
    • attending the WMA dealership to view the Vehicle; or
    • walk-around videos can be supplied if unable to attend the dealership.
  7. Where a Customer attends the WMA dealership, or decides to Purchase the Vehicle online, the Reservation Fee will be applied to the purchase price of that Vehicle as shown on the Order Form.
  8. Where a Customer attends an Appointment or notifies WMA, on the day of the Appointment, that they do not want to Purchase the Vehicle, the Reservation Fee will be refunded by way of credit via the original payment method used, in accordance with Clause 5, within five Working Days.
  9. Where a Customer does not comply with the requirements of Clauses 7 or 9, the Reservation is forfeit and will not be refunded.
  10. Should a Customer wish to terminate the sale, at any stage following the completion of the contract of sale, the Reservation Fee is non-refundable.
  11. Customers may only make one Reservation at any one time.
  12. The Reservation Fee is not a deposit, and shall not constitute a contract for the sale or purchase of the Vehicle.
  13. A person who is not a party to the terms herein shall not have any rights under or in connection with it and the provisions of the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 are expressly excluded.
  14. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
  15. The Parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
  16. Nothing in these terms and conditions will affect or limit the statutory rights of a consumer.
